“Eurydice III, Column” was the result of inspiration MacDonald discovered in classical Greek mythology in the early 1990's. Stirring the imagination, the finely observed anatomy of the figure underscores Eurydice's humanity - her circumstances place her in a world of complete vulnerability - a world and a place that is inside the realm of our own experiences. Eurydice’s evocative power is in its immediacy. The stripping away of all non essential detail heightens its effect.
