Dawn the Awakening is the first of three symbolic studies of the three ages of womanhood - Dawn, High Noon, and Sunset. Dawn represents the awakening optimism and joy of woman as she embraces her passage childhood to womanhood and the awareness of horizons opening to her. Richard MacDonald was inspired by the Pilobolus Ballet Company for this piece.
